School Profile

Sangkol Elementary School (JBLJMS) is a growing educational institution situated in Purok Mangga, Barangay Sangkol, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, under South District C of the Division of Dipolog City. The school currently serves 231 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6, including 35 Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners and 32 beneficiaries of the 4Ps program. With 10 nationally funded teachers—all meeting the

National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS)—the school maintains a learner-teacher ratio of 23:1. Despite limited resources, the school champions inclusive and equitable education, boasting consistent attendance, zero dropouts, and active engagement in co- and extra-curricular programs, particularly in promoting indigenous culture through its award-winning participation in the IPED Festival of Talents.

While Sangkol Elementary School continues to make strides, several priority improvement areas have been identified to enhance the learning environment. These include the rehabilitation of two classrooms, strengthening ICT and teaching strategy training for teachers, addressing library functionality, and enhancing WASH facilities, especially the learner-to-toilet ratio. Projects like the covered court renovation, construction of comfort rooms, and installation of safety signages—supported by the PTA and local government—are already underway. With these targeted interventions and sustained stakeholder collaboration, Sangkol Elementary School is determined to create a safer, more engaging, and inclusive space for learners to thrive and succeed.
