School Profile

Cogon National High School, located in Barangay Cogon, Dipolog City, Region IX, is a public secondary school committed to nurturing learners from Grades 7 to 12 through inclusive, quality education. Despite its distance from the city center—approximately 20 kilometers—the school remains a vital learning institution for surrounding communities, accessible via motorcycle and bus.

With a dedicated team of 36 nationally funded teachers and a steadily growing student population, Cogon NHS continues to uphold its mission of academic excellence and holistic development. The school serves a diverse student body, including Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners and 4Ps beneficiaries, and actively implements programs to support health, nutrition, and learner reintegration. Through strong partnerships with parents, local stakeholders, and community volunteers, Cogon NHS strives to overcome challenges in infrastructure, learning resources, and connectivity to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.

However, the school continues to face several urgent needs that require the support of its stakeholders. Many classrooms are in need of repair or rehabilitation, and while the school has ICT equipment such as computers, laptops, and tablets, a significant number are either damaged or non-functional. There is also a shortage of updated textbooks in core subjects like English and Science, and the current water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities are insufficient for the student population. Additionally, the school lacks reliable internet connectivity, which limits access to digital learning resources. The construction of a covered court, stage, and bleachers is also a top priority to provide a safe and functional venue for school events, physical education, and community gatherings. Addressing these needs is essential to creating a safe, engaging, and future-ready learning environment for all students. With the continued support of the community, local government, and partners, Cogon NHS is hopeful that these challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth and innovation.
